Abstract: The geology of Eastern Himalaya, the Indo‐Myanmar orogenic belt (IMOB), the Shillong Plateau and its adjoining regions have a distinct entity in the tectonic framework of South‐east Asia. A considerable gap exists in our knowledge of the geology of the Eastern Himalaya, IMOB, Shillong Plateau, Assam–Arakan Basin, and ophiolites of Northeast India.
