HongKong English Curriculum in the New Millennium

Abstract: This entry discusses current trends in English curriculum in the context of Hong Kong. The focus is on three innovative initiatives that are likely to change English language teaching profoundly in the region, including: (a) involvement of English teachers in the development of the situated pedagogy, (b) shifting attitudes toward the use of L1, and (c) promotion of the language across the curriculum (LAC) approach in education.
