FrancisI(1494–1547)

Abstract: The conflict of King Francis I of France (1494–1547) with the Emperor Charles V on several fronts was the focus of his diplomacy, as he tried to stir up trouble for the emperor and build up alliances against him. Most controversially, he allied with German Protestant princes and with the Ottoman sultan Suleiman in his attempts to undermine Charles.
