DNA damage and cell apoptosis induced by fungicide difenoconazole in mouse mononuclear macrophage RAW264.7

Abstract: Difenoconazole (DFC) is a typical triazole fungicide. Because of its effective bactericidal activity, it has been widely used in agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables. This study revealed the cytotoxic effect of fungicide DFC on mouse monocyte macrophage RAW264.7. The results showed that the IC50 value of DFC on RAW264.7 cells was 37.08 μM (24 h). DFC can significantly inhibit the viability of RAW264.7 cells, induce DNA damage and enhance apoptosis. The established cytotoxicity test showed that D… Show more

“…Genotoxicity, which has a damaging effect on DNA integrity, triggers apoptosis in macrophages [ 36 , 37 ]. In addition, TEGDMA induces DNA damage in gingival fibroblasts, lymphocytes, and oral keratinocytes [ 38 , 39 , 40 ]. The results obtained from the MN and comet assays highlight that TEGDMA induces MN formation and DNA damage parameters, including tail length and tail moment [ 19 ].…”

“…However, these fertilizers cause damage to the environment, human and animal health, and resistance to phytopathogens (Sabiha-Javied et al, 2023). In addition, they cause soil erosion, salinity and accumulation of heavy metals, air pollution and increases in the greenhouse effect (Li et al, 2022;Wang et al, 2022). Therefore, it is necessary to search for alternatives to decrease fertilizers use and that do not cause damage to the environment while increasing yield (Candido et al, 2023).…”

“…The harm caused by the massive use of fungicides has begun to attract people's attention. Fungicides have genotoxicity and cytotoxicity, 18 which can lead to apoptosis 19 and affect immune cells. 20 Procymidone (PRO) [N- (3,5-dichlorophenyl)-1,2-dimethylcyclopropane dicarboximide] is a dicarboximide fungicide.…”
