“…The results clearly show that there are several DMRs associated with food sensitization that are biologically plausible to predispose those children to react to food allergens in contrast with children that are only sensitized to airborne allergens. This study revealed for the first time that DNA methylation levels in CD300A were lower in IgE-sensitized children either to airborne allergens (Table 2) or to both, airborne plus food allergen sensitization (Table 4), supporting previous studies suggesting regulatory functions of this receptor on atopy and IgE-mediated, allergic inflammation [25][26][27]. Our results may also help to understand the biology of why some individuals are naturally predisposed to become IgE polysensitized.…”

“…Significant levels of IL-17A, both at mRNA and protein levels were found in asthma patients (32). IL-17A was detected in the skin of OVA/SEB-induced AD mice (31). Correspondingly with the aforementioned evidence, our AP model showed significantly elevated levels of IL-4 simultaneously with a trend of increased levels of both IL-17A and INFg.…”

“…Many allergic diseases are characterized by the involvement of a mixed Th2 and Th1 (28)(29)(30)(31) response and, as demonstrated by more recent evidence, of a Th17 one (32). For example, an AD murine model induced by OVA/SEB displayed increased mRNA levels of the Th2 cytokines IL-4 and IL-13, together with the Th1-related cytokines INFg and 12p40 (12).…”

“…Interaction of CD300a with phosphatidylserine and phosphatidylethanolamine present in Dengue virus enhance its internalization, favoring infection . Recently, up‐regulated CD300a expression has been reported in atopic dermatitis lesional skin and CD300a KO mice presented increased lesions in atopic dermatitis when compared to WT mice …”
