Abstract:Dietrich Bonhoeffer was born on February 4, 1906 in Breslau, Germany into the family of noted physician and professor Karl Bonhoeffer. Both sides of Dietrich's family were well placed in society, giving him a privileged upbringing. He died in a Nazi prison camp on April 9, 1945. His 39 years earned him the legacy of martyr, theologian, pastor, and critic of both society and the church.
