B enedictine R eform

Abstract: The Benedictine Reform was a tenth‐century ecclesiastical movement led by Dunstan, Æthelwold, and Oswald with the support of King Edgar. The reformers wished to emulate the Continental Benedictine Reform, particularly as practiced at Fleury and Ghent. Beyond the religious aspects, the reform fundamentally changed how monasteries held property and removed them from the control of local nobility.
