Each year, ASLO honors aquatic scientists of various career stages for their exceptional work in advancing the fields of limnology and oceanography. The announcement and full citations for the 2023 awardees were published in the previous issue of the Bulletin (Schieler 2023) and can also be found on aslo.org.The 2023 awardees were honored and presented with their awards at the ASLO Aquatic Sciences Meeting in Palma de Mallorca, Spain in June. Each awardee's presentation can be found in our YouTube library of award talks and meeting plenaries (http://bit.ly/ASLOUTube).Since 2019, the ASLO Communications Office has published interviews with the award winners in Limnology & Oceanography Bulletin. These interviews give the awardees the opportunity to talk about their career in their own words. This year, we'll be featuring the interviews across the August and November issues. Below you will find our first set of Q&As with these inspiring scientists! Be sure to check out Part II of these interviews in the upcoming November issue.Do you know someone deserving of an ASLO Award? Consider sending in a nomination! ASLO awardees are chosen only from member-submitted nominations, so we need your help to fill a diverse slate of awardees for 2024. Nominees do not need to be an ASLO member. The nominations period will open in September and instructions on how to make your nominations will be sent soon. For more on the awards process, check out Wickland and Pollard (2019).
