“…Staphylococcus sp. were commonly found in both groups, but not significantly more in EPS patients, contrary to other reports . Usually, inappropriate usage of antibiotics leads to drug‐resistant species, such as methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus epidermis (MRSE) and vancomycin‐resistance enterococci .…”

“…In our study, the mean UF volume of the SEP cases with impaired UF was less than 300 ml/m 2 per day, which corresponds to less than 500 ml/1.73 m 2 per day in adults. Based on our results, the Japanese SEP Study Group added a criterion for pediatric patients in their recent report [11], which is an UF volume of less than 300 ml/m 2 per day with dialysate bags of 2.5% glucose solution four times per day in patients with no residual urine volume. The performance of the PET is useful for characterizing the patient's peritoneal membrane transport capacity.…”

“…The pharmacological mode of action of corticosteroids in SEP is unclear. Several working groups concluded that corticosteroids were potentially effective in the treatment of SEP because the exuberant fibroneogenesis in such cases should be controlled by drugs preventing formation of peritoneal effusion and fibrin deposition (Junor and McMillan 1993, Nomoto and others 1998).…”
