“…Bibliometric analysis is a type of quantitative research that uses mathematical and statistical techniques (Uribe et al, 2019) and allows to evaluate the production of scientific and technical literature (Sancho, 1990;Osareh, 1996) providing quantitative information (on scientific production) and qualitative (on the impact of this production) (Velasco et al, 2012), at various levels, such as countries, authors, journals, institutions (Macías et al, 2021). This is a widely used methodology that allows knowing the characteristics of scientific production in terms of size, growth and distribution of scientific documents and also allows knowing the groups of users and authors of these documents, as well as their content (Bordons and Zulveta, 1999;González de Dios et al, 1997;Velasco et al, 2012).…”

“…Schoenefeld (2021) used bibliometric analysis to examine the ways academic authors frame nonstate actors working to shape public policy. Others examined the state of specific nonprofit research areas, including nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in international development (Brass et al, 2018), nonprofit revenue diversification/concentration and financial capacity (Lu et al, 2019), nonprofit collaboration (Gazley & Guo, 2020), and the social economy (Macías Ruano et al, 2021). Three pieces tracked trends in scholarship over time, including Coule and colleagues (2022) (critical nonprofit scholarship), Evans (2022) (gender inclusion based on research subject and authorship), and Kang et al (2022) (trends in research topics over the publication history of NVSQ) .…”
