Scientific Developments and New Technological Trajectories in Sensor Research

Abstract: Scientific developments and new technological trajectories in sensors play an important role in understanding technological and social change. The goal of this study is to develop a scientometric analysis (using scientific documents and patents) to explain the evolution of sensor research and new sensor technologies that are critical to science and society. Results suggest that new directions in sensor research are driving technological trajectories of wireless sensor networks, biosensors and wearable sensors.… Show more

“…Several studies have investigated different aspects of scientific performance, including the number of citations, publications, word occurrences across documents, collaborations, emerging disciplines, etc. (Peterson, 2010 : Coccia et al, 2021 ). Aksnes et al ( 2019 ) argue that citations are increasingly used as performance indicators within the research system, and scientists with high reputation and many citations will attract more scientific opportunities (e.g., grants, international collaborations, etc.…”

“…In order to support corporate, industrial, economic, and social change for competitive advantage of firms and nations, and to improve overall human progress, technological innovation plays an important role in society for satisfying needs, achieving goals, and solving problems of adopters directed to supporting corporate, industrial, economic, and social change [86][87][88][89][90]. Awareness technological and social change requires a thorough understanding of scientific developments and new technological trajectories [91][92][93][94][95].…”
