The participants included 116 in-service middle school chemistry teachers who attended a training program at the Faculty of Education, Lebanese University, and 250 of their students, randomly selected from a larger sample of 2345, enrolled in Grades 7-9 at Lebanese public schools all over Lebanon. “…Science and scientists' images that people have are one of the indicators for individuals' perceptions of scientists and their roles in society (Hatisaru & Murphy, 2019;Medina-Jerez, Middleton, & Orihuela-Rabaza, 2011;Meyer, Guenther, & Joubert, 2019). These images also show that people"s attitudes towards science, interest in and learning of science, and understanding of science (Chionas & Emvalotis, 2021;El Takach & Yacoubian, 2020;El Takach & Al Tobi, 2021;Emvalotis & Koutsianou, 2018). It is known that if students have negative views, images, and stereotypical perceptions of scientists, this could result in negative attitudes towards science (Buldu, 2006) and consequently influence their study and achievement in science, and their career choice (Britner, 2008).…”

“…Compared to their teachers, more students thought that scientists make inventions in the field of technology. The stereotypical images increased among students of higher grades and became more similar to those of their teachers and the authors of the textbooks that they use (El Takach & Yacoubian, 2020).…”

“…Scientists are also perceived as lacking interpersonal skills, working alone, and possessing undesirable physical and personality traits (Carli et al, 2016). These stereotypic views have changed over time, but still exist and vary with age and sex (Ehrlinger et al, 2018;El Takach & Yacoubian, 2020;Miller et al, 2018;Nguyen & Riegle-Crumb, 2021;Wyer et al, 2010). These stereotypic views abound and persist unless challenged (Mead & Métraux, 1957;Welch & Huffman, 2011).…”
