The purpose of this paper is to briefly review the literature on intellectual capital and sustainability growth in manufacturing companies, service companies or other industries and propose research opportunities related to the role of intellectual capital in influencing sustainable growth in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) industry. Two steps are involved in developing a research proposition. First, identify the characteristics of the contingent faced by each type of business. Second, match the characteristics of the contingent for each type of company with the appropriate intellectual capital based on the results of previous research. The contingent characteristics of the type of MSME business can be identified as innovation, management knowledge, competence, competitive advantage, and technological ability to be able to demonstrate sustainable growth of a business. These variables can be used and combined to improve managerial performance as the basis for sustainable growth of a business. From the various problems experienced by MSMEs, it is deemed necessary to raise the issue of the influence of intellectual capital on sustainability growth with a combination of these variables.

As part of the third mission of universities to promote innovation and economic development, the popularity of science and technology parks (STPs) as a policy tool is increasing. The co-location of innovative companies and universities should be conducive to knowledge exchange between universities and industry, thus leading to more innovation. However, STPs have evolved in different contexts and to serve different purposes. Furthermore, the research on them has evolved mainly through case studies of individual parks and it is scattered across different disciplinary conversations. Building on 1,711 articles published from 1985 onwards, this study presents a systematic literature review of research on STPs and their relationships with universities. We find three different phases in the evolution of this literature: a formation phase (before 2000), where the focus was on the creation of STPs; a geographical expansion phase (2000)(2001)(2002)(2003)(2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)(2010) reflecting the geographical expansion of STPs to East Asia and other emerging economies, with heavy focus on high-technology firms mainly in ICT; and a topical expansion phase (2011 onwards) when the literature expands to cover a diversity of new topics, including open innovation and sustainability, reflecting broader changes in the understanding of innovation.

Technological advances within the work environment have dynamically changed the tools with which work is done and the methods applied for performing it, with a large amount of modern work being fast-paced and sedentary in nature, that is, being done seated in front of a computer screen. This study investigated the relationship between work intensity, workaholism, burnout, and musculoskeletal complaints (MSCs). The results of this study could assist organizations in gaining a clearer understanding of how each of these constructs influences the other, promoting a healthier, and ultimately more productive workforce. A cross-sectional research design was adopted and implemented by means of a survey amongst office employees within a large engineering services organization (n = 398). Structural equation modeling methods were applied to analyze the data. The results revealed that work intensity was positively related to workaholism and that workaholism was, in turn, also positively related to employees' burnout and MSCs. Finally, burnout was also shown to be significantly related to MSCs. Awareness of these phenomena and the promotion of effort recovery is important to obviate the effects on employee health and well-being in the long term.
