Shaping a new society: Immigration, integration, and schooling in Germany

In accordance with Speck’s (n.d) recommendation for the future of school social work in Germany, school social workers should seek opportunities to become involved with educational policy, especially in advocating for delayed academic tracking. On a more proximal level, school social workers should become involved with urban planning initiatives to create neighborhoods and communities that best support the well-being of all students – both those from immigrant families and native-born (Speck, n.d.).…”
