Abstract:The synthesis of 2‐thiohydantoins from α‐amino acids with thiocyanate and acetic anhydride is simply called as the Johnson reaction. This reaction has been used to sequence peptides and proteins from the C‐terminal therefore, this reaction is known as the Schlack–Kumpf reaction.
