Schizophrenic active neutrinos and exotic sterile neutrinos

Abstract: We implement a schizophrenic scenario for the active neutrinos in a model in which there are also exotic right-handed neutrinos making a model with a local U(1)_(B-L) anomaly free. Two of right-handed neutrinos carry B-L=-4 while the third one carries B-L=5.Comment: I, A. C. B. Machado, apologize for having submitted the wrong file before. This is in fact the version to be published in Physics Letters B 698 (2011) pp. 128-13

“…Our application of S 3 will be different from those of Ref. [4,5] since we have the three N L,R fields in addition to ν R1,R2,R3 . We will first work out the details of our model for the simpler case of µ − τ sector and show how one can use S 3 symmetry to obtain maximal mixing.…”

“…However, the difference between the baryon number and the lepton number symmetry U (1) B−L can be made non-anomalous by adding only the right-handed partners, ν Ri of the SM neutrinos, ν Li . Anomaly cancellation demands one of the two solutions, the lepton number of the right-handed neutrinos to be vector charges: [52][53][54]. Since all the charged fermions in the SM acquire Dirac masses, it is quite natural to expect that ν L and ν R pair up to form four-component Dirac fermion and as a result the neutrinos also receive Dirac masses.…”
