Schisandrin A from Schisandra chinensis Attenuates Ferroptosis and NLRP3 Inflammasome-Mediated Pyroptosis in Diabetic Nephropathy through Mitochondrial Damage by AdipoR1 Ubiquitination

Abstract: Schisandra chinensis, as a Chinese functional food, is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, minerals, vitamins, and proteins. Hence, this study was intended to elucidate the effects and biological mechanism of Schisandrin A from Schisandra chinensis in DN. C57BL/6 mice were fed with a high-fat diet and then injected with streptozotocin (STZ). Human renal glomerular endothelial cells were stimulated with 20 mmol/L d-glucose for DN model. Schisandrin A presented acute kidney injury in mice of DN. Schisandrin A reduc… Show more

“…At present, studies have found that there are three main ways to participate in the mechanism of iron death. First, iron metabolism pathway [36]. This is a phospholipid lipid peroxidation pathway mediated by oxidative stress, iron and enzymes.…”

“…It is well known that Deo has a strong anti-inflammatory effect in various inflammatory diseases, such as diabetes, kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease, and is significantly related to the treatment and prognosis of these diseases. 2931 Relevant studies also indicate that Deo has an effect in the treatment of inflammation. For example, Deo can treat ulcerative colitis through the TLR4/NF-κB signal pathway.…”

“…Pyroptosis can be divided into classical death pathway that depends on NLRP3 inflammatory vesicles and caspase-1, and the non-classical death pathway that depends on caspase-4 /5/11 [33]. In addition, pyroptosis can be described by pore formation on the membrane due to gasdermin, cell swelling and rapid lysis, and subsequent several pro-inflammatory mediators interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18) release [33][34][35]. Plenty of studies have demonstrated that pyroptosis is implicated with many diseases, such as atherosclerotic diseases, metabolic diseases, and aseptic inflammatory diseases of important organs [33,36,37].…”
