Schematic model forρa1mixing at finite density and in-medium effective Lagrangian

Abstract: Based on schematic two-level models extended to a1-meson degrees of freedom, we investigate possible mechanisms of chiral restoration in the vector/axialvector channels in cold nuclear matter. In the first part of this article we employ the massive Yang-Mills framework to construct an effective chiral Lagrangian based on low-energy mesonic modes at finite density. The latter are identified through nuclear collective excitations of 'meson'-sobar type such as. In a mean-field type treatment the in-medium gauge c… Show more

“…1c): Instead of these indirect interactions via pions the ρ-meson can also couple directly to a nucleon from the medium and form a nucleon or a baryonic resonance. For ρ-mesons at rest which we study here, one can only form baryons which couple to the ρ-nucleon system in an s-wave [12,14,15,16,25,41,42]. This excludes e.g.…”

“…These pions can interact with the ρ-mesons (or directly with the current) and cause a mixing with other mesons, e.g. with the ω-meson [10] or with the a 1 -meson (chiral mixing) [20,38,39,40,41].…”

“…The first of these relations connects the integrated difference of the vector and axial vector mesonic spectral functions (current-current correlators) with the pion decay constant. Together with suitable model calculations, the first Weinberg sum rule can shed light on the degree and physical mechanism of chiral symmetry restoration at finite nuclear densities [11,12].…”

“…In Ref. 15) a schematic "a 1 -sobar" model at finite density has been constructed where an important role is played by the putative chiral partners of the ρ-sobar resonance-hole excitations (e.g., N (1520)N −1 , etc. ); see also Ref.…”
