Scheduling and resource allocation in OFDM and FBMC systems: An interactive approach and performance comparison

Abstract: In modern wireless communication systems, scheduling and resource allocation are two closely related tasks of the medium access control (MAC) and physical (PHY) layers respectively. In this paper, we present a separate yet interactive design of the two functional modules, where the scheduler prioritizes data packets from different service flows according to their traffic characteristics and feedback from the resource allocator, while the resource allocator performs quality of service (QoS) constrained transmit… Show more

“…Since the FBMC modulation allows us to better control the out-of-band radiation, the bands that remain silent are reduced. This translates to the utilization of M a = 756 carriers to convey data, [10]. The sampling frequency is set to 11.2MHz and the symbols are drawn from the 16QAM scheme, which means that the real symbols multiplexed in the FBMC case are 4PAM.…”

“…Among the possible prototype pulses that can be used in the FBMC/OQAM modulation, we favour the design based on the frequency sampling approach with an overlapping factor equal to 4, [24]. This translates into the utilization of 756 carriers in the scenario 1 and 378 in the scenario 2, [35]. In all the simulations the symbols are drawn from the 16QAM constellation.…”

“…So, to overcome this problem of poor throughput [5] & increase system performance authors work on ENGT.The main objective of this research paper is to provide uniform allocation of resources by its priority and after that finding its maximum throughput rate. The main benefit to utilize this LTE technology [1] is improving its data rate at downlink transmission rate by using OFDMA [9] principle in LTE [1] systems.…”
