Schedule Optimization of a Large Hospital Project – 4D Bim Starting With the Demolition

Abstract: There are multiple studies emphasising the positive interaction between Lean Construction and BIM use. Nevertheless, it is often difficult to find a direct link between this integrated strategy and the project outcome. This paper presents a case study of a large hospital project in a dense downtown environment, where BIM and Lean were used in synergy-mutually informing each other and catalysing their impact. This project created opportunities for multiple innovations and optimisations. This paper will focus on… Show more

“…The proposed method used the combination of 3D flight templates and multi-objective GA to improve the visual quality of drawings and reduce flight execution duration. Iordanova et al (2020) developed a 4D BIM method based on lean planning strategies for optimizing the process of deconstruction and demolition in minimizing the project time line. The proposed method used a 4D simulation and project progress monitoring method in a mega-hospital construction in order to increase the productivity and quality of the project.…”
