“…However, distraction or obstructions to view did not account for all the observation errors in the analysis, suggesting that 'looked but failed to see' accidents are a large problem for both PTWs and bicycles. Speed of the PTW will have played a role in some cases, as often car drivers can misjudge the speed of an approaching PTW and believe they have time to complete their turn, but a collision occurs when the PTW reaches them sooner than expected (Pai, 2011;Davidse et al, 2019). For nonspeed related incidents, particularly those involving crossing or turning scenarios, technology countermeasures might be effective in reducing accidents.…”

“…These road users are considered vulnerable and their safety is greatly affected by the interaction with the infrastructure and other road users. Davidse et al (2019) in their study focus on light mopeds (LM) in the Netherlands and the implications of moving them to the carriageway due to the increased traffic density on bicycle paths as well as concerns about the safety of cyclists. To this end, 36 light moped crashes on bicycle paths in the Netherlands were investigated in an indepth study and six types of crashes were identified and described in prototypical scenarios.…”

“…Autonomous vehicle test scenario construction technology is the core of autonomous driving safety test and evaluation. The existing researches mainly focus on two kinds of methods, one is based on combinatorial reasoning [4,5] and the other is data-driven test scenario construction [6][7][8][9][10][11] . Compared with combinatorial reasoning technology, data-driven technology is based on real world data, which is more authentic and applicable.…”

“…Compared with combinatorial reasoning technology, data-driven technology is based on real world data, which is more authentic and applicable. For example, Davidse et al [6] analyzed motorcycle collision scenarios based on real-world collisions. Char and Serre [10] used natural driving data to establish a database of risk scenarios involving cyclists.…”
