Scenarios Analysis of the Energies’ Consumption and Carbon Emissions in China Based on a Dynamic CGE Model

Abstract: This paper investigates the development trends and variation characteristics of China's economy, energy consumption and carbon emissions from 2007 to 2030, and the impacts on China's economic growth, energy consumption, and carbon emissions under the carbon tax policy scenarios, based on the dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) model. The results show that during the simulation period, China's economy will keep a relatively high growth rate, but the growth rate will slow down under the benchmark scenar… Show more

“…To limit and reduce the above negative impacts, many fuel-consumption and air-pollution control policies have been adopted in this sector, such as the introduction of carbon based vehicle tax systems [6], incentives for the adoption of hybrid electric vehicle [7], improvements in vehicle technologies (catalytic converter, alternative fuels, engine efficiency), congestion charging, and incentives for using public transport.…”

“…The partial equilibrium analysis and input-output models are commonly used. Hosoe [41], Akkemi [42], Li et al [43] and Chi et al [44] applied a CGE model to analyze the impacts of power market reform and policies.…”

“…Likewise, Zhang (1998) analyzed the macroeconomic effects of China's CO 2 emissions by applying a CGE model of the Chinese economy. Another important study based on the CGE model investigates the variation characteristics of China's economy, energy consumption and carbon emissions from 2007 to 2030, and the impacts on China's economic growth, energy consumption, and carbon emissions under the carbon tax policy scenarios (Chi, Guo, Zheng, & Zhang, 2014).…”
