Wireless Networking is becoming very popular and interesting technology especially in these days as everyone wants wireless connectivity at anywhere anytime. It contains numerous wireless network technologies such as WiFi, WiMax, HSDPA and WiBro etc. Based on structural arrangement, wireless networks are categorized into two main categories: fixed infrastructure wireless networks and infrastructure less wireless networks. Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs) come under the category of infrastructure less wireless networks, which is an autonomous system of mobile hosts connected by wireless links. Nodes are free to move and can join or leave the network at any time whenever required. Wireless ad hoc networks eradicate various problems which may come out while setting up the infrastructure. Communication among nodes in these networks is accomplished via different routing protocols. But these protocols have different security flaws and using these flaws, an attacker can launch many kinds of attacks. Wormhole attack is one of the serious attack in the context of mobile ad-hoc network, which can disrupt any routing channel completely. In this work, an attempt has been made to compare the performance of on-demand reactive routing protocol: Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) with two approaches: normal and attack. The performance metrics evaluated for the two examined approaches are Throughput, Packet Delivery Ratio, Delay and Jitter.

Mobile Ad hoc Network is collection wireless mobile nodes which dynamically form a temporary network] =without the use of existing network infrastructure centralized administration. Due to dynamic property of mobiles nodes in MANET, They require good routing protocols. This paper analyzes the effect of random based mobility models on the performance of Proactive Routing Protocol (DSDV-Destination Sequence Distance Vector) and Reactive Routing Protocol (AODV-on Demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol, and (OLSR-Optimized Link State Routing Protocol). Performance Analysis is done with respect to receive rate and packet received for varying node densities.

The research on mobile ad hoc networks is intensively attracted by the research community due to their good characteristic of multi-hop wireless connectivity and energetically altering network topology. It collects infrastructure less mobile nodes building a temporary network without any centralized administration. So far, numbers of ad hoc routing protocols were developed and executed. The simulation work has been performed to access the performance of ad hoc on-demand distance vector routing (AODV), dynamic source routing (DSR) and wireless routing protocol (WRP). Hence, GloMoSim simulator was used to perform the simulations. The author adopted two dissimilar scenarios, namely, 50 and 100 nodes, with rectangular area sizes of 1500 × 1000 and 2000 × 1500 m 2 , respectively, to estimate the impact of network size on the performances. Simulation findings demonstrated that for definite differentials, WRP shows an enhanced performance than the other two protocols such as DSR and AODV.
