“…A four‐patient study by Khafif et al in 2020 suggests a transoral endoscopic vestibular approach without complications and “all operated patients were highly satisfied with the surgical results.” 5 This approach would require more dissection to reach the thyroid cartilage but would avoid any external scar in the neck. A cadaveric study by Verhasselt et al in 2020 also confirmed the feasibility of a surgical reduction of the Adam's apple without a cutaneous scar utilizing a transvestibular endoscopic thyroidectomy approach 32 .…”

“…After being first described by Wolfort and Parry 1 and Wolfort et al 2 in 1975, various modifications of laryngochondroplasties have been described, including an endoscopic technique, to evaluate the position of the vocal folds by Conrad and Yoskovitch in 2003, 3 a technique using a fiberoptic scope through a laryngeal mask airway (LMA) by Spiegel and Rodriguez in 2008, 4 and a transoral approach by Khafif et al in 2020. 5 Although laryngochondroplasties have been performed for the last 40 years, few studies have been performed that evaluate the improvement in quality of life (QOL) after such procedures. The goal of this study was to determine such benefit by providing these patients a validated benefit inventory known as the Glasgow Benefit Inventory (GBI), a validated generic patient-recorded outcome measure widely used in otolaryngology to report change in QOL postintervention.…”

“…TOETVA offers a direct approach to the central neck region via the linea alba, thus allowing access to the thyroid and parathyroid glands as well as to the laryngeal framework for certain indications 2,3 . The approach starts at the lower lip vestibule, thus avoiding possible devastating complications reported in other remote approaches, such as brachial plexus injury 4 .…”
