“…Furthermore, we reduced the flip angle to 20°because, according to the hardware automated estimation of the signal-to-noise ratio, this was the optimal flip angle for the given MR imaging parameters. This value is also near the theoretic optimum of 25°to 55° (16). Total examination time ranged from 45 to 55 minutes.…”

“…Unfortunately, spatial resolution in the peripheral arteries often is restricted by insufficient signal‐to‐noise (S/N) and contrast‐to‐noise (C/N) in the more distal parts of the field of view (FOV) (4, 16, 17). In looking to overcome problems associated with insufficient S/N and C/N, various authors have advocated either single injections of high‐dose gadolinium contrast agents (1, 2, 5, 6, 10) or cumulative dosing with injections at two or more stations along the vascular territory (3, 12, 18, 19). Drawbacks of these approaches, however, include increased costs for contrast agents and, when multiple dosing protocols are used, problems associated with degraded image quality following the second injection due to residual gadolinium from the first injection (4, 18).…”

“…The pre-requisite for this is to optimise the injection time on the basis of each patient's cardio-circulatory parameters, as also shown by Westenberg et al [13]. New magnets, fast informazioni sui vasi del piede rispetto alle sequenze con mezzo di contrasto anche se hanno consentito uno studio di questa regione con maggiore dettaglio ed un campo di vista più ampio (Fig.…”

“…La condizione imprescindibile su cui si fonda questa affermazione è l'ottimizzazione del tempo di iniezione ad ogni singolo paziente, in base ai suoi parametri cardio-circolatori come dimostrato anche da Westenberg et al [13]. I nuovi magneti, le sequenze veloci, i gradienti più elevati ed i nuovi sequences, higher gradients, and new software have made MRA an increasingly fast and precise examination, to the point of enabling the study of small-calibre vessels, such as those of the leg and foot.…”
