“…It will be important to examine affective responses to better understand how these responses influence adherence. Studies should explore integrating HIIT interventions within existing opportunities (e.g., physical education) and increase physical literacy [ 37 ]. Finally, there is a strong need to validate objective monitors of PA for HIIT sessions and develop psychosocial measures specifically developed for HIIT interventions such as the High-Intensity Interval Training Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (HIIT-SQ) [ 38 ].…”

“…Importantly, our research team will provide teachers with training and support to ensure that the programme is delivered in an engaging manner that supports students’ autonomous motivation to be active across the lifespan. Most HIIT studies have been delivered by researchers in controlled settings to establish efficacy, with little consideration of how they will work in the ‘real world’ 31. By comparison, B2La was designed with scale-up in mind using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research to support implementation and sustainability.…”

This may help to reduce the ‘voltage drop’ that typically occurs as interventions progress from efficacy to effectiveness to dissemination.…”

“…It is known that schools and Physical Education classes (PEC) are privileged spaces and promoters of positive changes for the rest of life [ 4 , 5 , 6 ], in which time-efficient approach interventions have a prominent role. There are several reasons why PECs should be taught in schools, but the effectiveness of current methods for PEC is frequently challenged, notwithstanding this point of view [ 7 ]. It has also been demonstrated that most PEC programs have difficulty attaining the full range of health and educational outcomes included in the PEC curriculum [ 5 ].…”
