Abstract:A 2D incompressible viscoresistive-MHD model [Mahapatra et al., Phys. Plasmas 28, 072103 (2021)] is used to study the scaling of reconnection parameters in the magnetic island coalescence problem under two interesting scenarios. First, the effect of changing island half-width at a fixed system size is investigated. As the island half-width increases, the total magnetic flux content of the islands increases, resulting in an increase in upstream magnetic field, upstream velocity field, and unnormalized reconnect… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
