Abstract:Summary
Valuable insights about relationships between consumers and their resources have emerged from studies that investigated how these interactions vary with spatial scale. We conducted field studies to examine the scale‐dependence of patterns of spatial variation in the densities of larval blackflies (Simulium tribulatum) and water velocity, a key variable determining resource supply rates to these passive suspension‐feeders. We sought to answer two main questions: (i) How do patterns of spatial variatio… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
