Scalar Speed Control of Induction Motors with Difference Frequency

Abstract: Speed monitoring of electric motors has attracted the attention of many researchers from past to present. Induction Motor (IM), which is one of the electric motor types, falls behind the nominal speed in different loads. This study was conducted to increase the speed control performance of IM. In the study, speed control of IMs was realized by Difference Frequency (DF). The Scalar Control (SC) method was used in IM speed control. In order to increase the performance of SC, the frequency information received fr… Show more

“…Lately, scalar control has been widely applied to the industry, transportation, and household sectors with an industrial class instrument [6]- [7]. The scalar control of the stator voltage depends on frequency supply, except in low and above base rotor speed [8]- [9]. On the one hand, the scalar control is easy to implement, low-cost operation, and robust against error feedback.…”

“…Induction motors (IMs) are electric motors commonly used in industry. The main reasons for their widespread usage are that they are cheaper than other electrical machines and require less maintenance [1][2][3]. While IMs are so widely used, the slightest increase in efficiency in these motors can reduce a large amount of energy consumption worldwide [4,5].…”

“…NDUCTION motors are the most popular electrical systems in modern industries and are known for their many benefits which are high efficiency, low costs, low maintenance needs, and simple construction [1]- [3]. The induction motor (IM) is a kind of AC motors where the electromagnetic power is passed from the main windings to secondary windings through inductive coupling, the two windings being isolated by an air gap.…”
