A service oriented architecture for simultaneous access in the field of remote labs has been proposed and validated using stress load testing. The innovation of this work lies on the use of the parameters collected for the typical student and tested with the Artillery.io tool. Then, we have evaluated the performance of the laboratory by defining 5s the maximum waiting time that a request cannot be exceeded. This article also describes a use case showing how this architecture was designed and developed with 109 students.

Le projet LABENVI (laboratoire d’enseignement virtuel) de l’Université de Limoges offre aux apprenants éloignés la possibilité d’effectuer des travaux pratiques à distance dans le domaine de l’électronique et de l’optique. La mise en œuvre combinée d’interfaces multi-utilisateur et de classes virtuelles permet de développer le travail collaboratif synchrone, étudiants et enseignants pouvant en effet contrôler ensemble le matériel de laboratoire et interagir simultanément. Après avoir décrit cette méthode de formation expérimentale, nous donnons quelques indicateurs de son efficacité pédagogique. Puis, en resituant la méthode au sein du dispositif global de FOAD, fait d’apprentissage synchrone et asynchrone, nous nous interrogeons sur les mutations dans la transmission du savoir.

Abstract-Currently most universities have Online-learning environments ready to be remotely accessed through the internet. Remote labs have emerged as a viable alternative for developing skills and to learn how to deal with laboratory instruments in the absence of real labs. Remote labs can provide remote access to hardware and simulators, and can allow students to perform experiments without time and location restrictions. In addition, they provide the necessary guidance and also constrain user operation in order to avoid dangerous situations (both from set-up integrity and from the user's point of view).In this paper, we describe a hierarchical model of a remote lab for analog communication that is focused for undergraduate and engineering students. The lab brings together a two level learning approach. i). A basic device level approach for new users and ii). An advanced block level approach for advanced users. Features like ondemand service, virtual breadboard, interactive instrument panels and supporting supplementary materials, makes our lab the right candidate to be used in e-learning. The lab is currently being used for e-learning at distance education centers of the university.
