Saúde de travestis e transexuais atendidos pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS)

Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze selected publications on health actions for transvestites and transsexuals in the Unified Health System (SUS). This is an integrative bibliographic research on the theme Health of Transvestites and Transsexuals in the Unified Health System (SUS). Searches were carried out for publications in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS). The descriptors of Health Sciences (DeCS) controlled, used and listed were: Sexual and Gender Minorities, Transsexuality, Health Systems. The results and discussion are structured in two thematic categories, namely: health actions for transvestites and transsexuals in the SUS and challenges and obstacles to the policy and actions of the SUS. It is concluded that among the problems that most alienate transvestites and transsexuals in the SUS, the lack of ethics of the professionals who make up the health team and the lack of training are the most evident. There are positive and relevant points, among which we can highlight the rights conquered, such as the social name on the SUS card, and the process of reassignment and hormone therapy by the public health system.
