Occasionally, scientific reports have omitted information on standard deviations, making estimates of effect sizes very difficult to impossible. In such situations, several scholars have recommended obtaining an estimate of the standard deviation of distributions by dividing the range of the distribution (highest value minus lowest value) by four. However, there appears to be little evidence to confirm the validity of this approach. Articles from 2012 to 2015 in the journal Marriage & Family Review were surveyed to find instances where demographic variables (age, education, duration of relationship, number of children) were reported with both standard deviations and ranges. Ratios between range and standard deviations were calculated by several rules of thumb or more complex formulas and compared to the actual ratios obtained.Results indicated that dividing by 5 in general provided a more accurate estimate of actual standard deviations but accuracy in predicting the true ratio between range and standard deviation was substantially related to the position of the mean score within the range of scores with larger divisors needed as the mean approached either the minimum or the maximum values of the demographic variable (skew). Other recent formulae for estimating the standard deviation were also evaluated, but the skew-based approach appeared to be more accurate than the others.However, further investigation in other samples is needed because the skew-based approach was derived from observation of the data here, which might not replicate in different sets of data.

This study aims to identify the level of satisfaction with family life and self-satisfaction among sample of Syrian refugees in Jordan in the light of some variables. The study consisted of 427 Syrian refugees. The result shows an average level of satisfaction with family life and self-satisfaction. In addition, it indicates that there are statistically significant differences in the satisfaction with the family life and self-satisfaction according to the following variables: gender in the favor of females. Moreover, the results show differences in the level of satisfaction with family life according to the age variable in the favor of less than 15 years, and there are differences in the level of self-satisfaction according to the age variable in the favor of 16-30 years and 31-45 years.

The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of work-family conflict and family-work conflict on depression behavior mediated by job satisfaction and life satisfaction. The respondents in this research were 133 female nurses in two public hospitals in Indonesia. Methods of data collection were by using observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The sampling technique used the technique of proportional random sampling. Methods of data analysis were by using factor analysis, regression analysis and path analysis. Data analysis were by using SPSS software version 21. The results show that all hypothesis in the research were supported. Work-family conflict has an effect on depression behavior either directly or mediated by job satisfaction and life satisfaction. Similarly, the work-family conflict has an impact on the behavior of depression either direct or mediated by job satisfaction and life satisfaction. Our findings bear out the notion that job satisfaction and life satisfaction mediates the influence of dual role conflict on depression, highlighting the effect of individual satisfaction within this area. The suggestions for nurses, they should improve job satisfaction and life satisfaction so that it can overcome the dual role conflict they suffered.
