Abstract

The ongoing pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2, has dramatically impacted the world for the past two and a half years. Much effort has been focused on the prevention and treatment of this disease, along with the emergence of dominant variants. Here, we review the progress of current research on this virus and its variants, with a focus on the new Omicron variant.
