“…Clinically, a number of studies have displayed that Salvia miltiorrhiza can improve kidney function in CKD patients by increasing the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and creatinine clearance (Ccr) and reducing serum creatinine (SCr) and proteinuria, but this conclusion is yet to be verified [ 5 ]. Research studies also reveal that Salvia miltiorrhiza could alleviate kidney injury via inhibiting oxidative stress and apoptosis [ 6 ] and exerting prominent renal protective effects in iron-overloaded mice by decreasing of iron deposition and suppression of lipid peroxidation and apoptosis in the kidney [ 7 ].
