Salts of galacturonic acid and their application to the preparation of galacturonic acid from pectic substances

Abstract: Twelve new salts of galacturonic acid have been prepared and their properties investigated. Crystalline sodium, potassium, ammonium, cadmium, and ' sIlver galacturonates have been found to contain the beta pyranose modification, and crystalline calcium and strontium galacturonates, the alpha modification.
