“…Mientras que en las gaviotas dominicanas, la mayoría de los serovares aislados de S. enterica (36,1%) se obtuvieron de muestras de heces tomadas directamente de la cloaca, seguido de muestras de torulado fecal, de intestino y de la solución de lavado de patas (19,4%) (Tabla 1). En general, las gaviotas son resistentes a la infección por Salmonella, pero son efi caces portadoras de ella 23 , así lo demuestra la mayor fuente de origen de estos aislados que fueron de heces de cloaca, de lavado de patas y de intestino, lo que indica que mantienen el agente en su organismo y constituye una vía de diseminación.
