Limit of detection of Salmonella spp. for Aptamer-Magnetic bead Separation-Polymerase Chain Reaction (AMS-PCR) method was 10 2 CFU/ml. AMS-PCR was 10 times more sensitive than conventional PCR. In comparison with the culture method, AMS reduced the pre-enrichment and enrichment times. Combining AMS with PCR is cost-effective, time-saving, and highly specific for monitoring of Salmonella spp. in foods.
