Abstract:Saliva contains a variety of biomarkers, which are closely related to the occurrence, progression, diagnosis and treatment of oral and systemic diseases. Currently, the diagnosis of Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) still relies on invasive salivary gland biopsy procedures and serum Ro-52/SSA and La/SSB testing, which often makes early diagnosis extremely difficult, so screening for specific saliva biomarkers is extremely beneficial in the diagnosis and individualized treatment of Sjögren’s syndrome.
