Participants identified several themes related to their friendships/relationships with their targets that were previously noted by the targets’ family members, including making personal sacrifices, using poor coping strategies, feeling socially isolated, and keeping the targets’ ED a secret (Hillege et al, ; Keitel et al, ). These participants also identified themes that appear to be unique to the college student population, such as engaging in conforming behavior and confronting the target.…”
