“…For example, the viruses in the large clade comprising the CCHFV, NSDV, and Sakhalin serogroups have been isolated primarily from hard ticks. [51][52][53][54][55][56] Although there are two exceptional reports of the isolation of CCHFV from soft tick species, the circumstances suggest those reports should be viewed with caution 52,57 and there is experimental evidence that soft tick species are not competent vectors for CCHFV. 58,59 Tamdy virus and closely related Burana virus were also isolated from hard ticks.…”

“…Since that time 109 virus strains were isolated from these ticks, part of the strains appeared to be new viruses: Tyuleniy virus in group B (11,12,13,14), Sakhalin virus in the ungrouped arboviruses (12,16,17) and Zaliv Terpeniya virus in the Uukuniemi group. Isolation of identical strains of Zaliv Terpeniya virus on Tyuleniy island in Sakhalin region and on Commodore islands in Kamchatka region indicates an active exchange of virus populations in these parts of the geographic range distant one from the other.…”

“…This virus was identical to Tuleniy virus, iso latedon Tuleniy Island near Sakhalin (9). However , precise antigenic analysis of these viruses must be performed to determine their serological grouping .…”
