SAGE-based Tiled Display Wall enhanced with dynamic routing functionality triggered by user interaction

Abstract: To empower scientists who are engaged in nationwide or global-scale collaborative projects for scientific discovery, a large amount of scientific data needs to be visualized and then shared among the scientists. Tiled Display Wall (TDW) systems has been widely accepted and used for visualization of large-scale scientific data. Scalable Adaptive Graphics Environment (SAGE) has received attention from scientists as a middleware that organizes multiple display monitors into a network-aware large display monitor. … Show more

“…Therefore, SAGE2 needs to be improved just as SAGE was improved. One area of research uses OpenFlow to avoid congestion in SAGE [6]. We also will try to apply this research to SAGE2 and to contribute to e-Science in our future work.…”

“…For comparative purposes, we implemented a simple functionality that attempts reallocation in the same way as the previous functionality [5] only when a new application starts. Under the simple functionality, the OpenFlow controller calculates a route whose bandwidth utilization is the smallest using Dijkstra's algorithm only when a new flow is generated.…”

“…However, this functionality did not focus on network congestion, but on network failure occurrence. Therefore, our research team has proposed a dynamic routing functionality triggered by user interaction in [5]. This functionality verifies that reallocating routes of flows is effective for keeping their throughput when network parameters such as bandwidth and latency changes.…”

“…VaaS is a type of cloud-based computing which provides the shared visualization system and the back end PC cluster system beyond the Internet. To realize VaaS in the world, we have been developed the flow control mechanisms and the system architecture for TDW middleware [4] [5].…”
