Safety Assessment of Inhalant and Dermal Route Drugs

Abstract: The two common routes for administering a drug are inhalation and dermally. As administration of inhalants and dermal route drugs may result in adverse local and/or systemic effects, safety assessment of drugs with respect to the therapeutic‐to‐toxicity ratio are essential. This article focuses on both regulatory and technological considerations for safety assessment of inhalants and dermal route drugs.
