Safeguarding the catalytic activity and stability of polyaniline chitosan silver nanocomposite bound beta-galactosidase against product inhibitors and structurally related compound

Abstract: In this study, an attempt has been made to evaluate the effect of products of b-galactosidase (bGS) catalyzed reaction i.e. glucose and galactose and their structurally related compound vitamin C (VC) on the catalytic activity of native and PANI-CS-NC and PANI-CS-Ag-NC adsorbed bGS. Results indicated a decline in catalytic activity of soluble enzyme in the presence of all investigated compounds. The order of inhibition was found to be VC < glucose < galactose. However, the immobilized preparations were found m… Show more

“…The intestinal microvilli secrete β-galactosidase (EC 3.2.1.23), commonly known as lactase in the jejunum (4,20,21). It is synthesized as a precursor peptide of 220 kDa that goes through post-translational modifications as it gets transported to the cell surface, where it is still in its inactive form.…”

“…Aniline have been oxidized to polyaniline (PANi) using silver nitrate [24] or silver wire [14,25]. Subsequently, Ag+ ions are reduced to AgNPs [24,[26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34]. Doing so, both conductive PANi and conductive AgNps are produced.…”
