Evacuation systems have always played a crucial part when designing a transport system. The cornerstone of these systems is to get people to safety in the quickest and safest way possible. When it comes to marine systems, the requirements greatly differ in comparison to those on land and in air. On a day with highly inclement and fierce weather, in the middle of the ocean, getting the crew to safety through a chute or a slide would expose the crew to ferocious danger. Thence, the proposed Puffle-Pod Evacuation System introduces a more protected and secure evacuation without putting the lives of the crew at a high risk.

“…For example, the process described here includes risk as a driver to design requirements development and thereby resembles the "risk informed design" methodology recommended by NASA (NASA 2010) and commonly used in the nuclear power industry. The activity model highlights the points in the design process when probabilistic and stochastic methods can be used to analyze risk and in this way the methodology resembles the "risk-based design" process being implemented in marine design (Breinholt 2012) and the petroleum industry. Abstract. The INCOSE Biomedical-Healthcare Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Challenge Team has been exploring applications of MBSE techniques to medical device development. Because patient and user safety is paramount in medical devices, the team has focused on using MBSE techniques to address safety topics. This paper uses MBSE methods to address the processes of analyzing safety and incorporating risk control at each step of the development portion of the system life cycle in order to achieve "built in" safety. SysML activity models are presented that link the steps of ISO 14971 to the system development technical processes of ISO 15288. In addition, the models show how the analysis results of ISO 14971 can be used to develop a system safety assurance case. The activity models explicitly show the iterative and recursive approach to applying risk management at each stage of system development and address the ISO 13485 requirement for process integration.

Lamentablemente en los últimos meses de redacción de la tesis, que van desde diciembre de 2016 a abril de 2017, se han hundido los pesqueros "Siempre Urbegi", "Gure Uxa", "Senefand", "Galliner", "O Busi", "El Fairell" y "Nuevo Marcos". Esto hace un total de 9 fallecidos durante este invierno, de los cuales 6 han sido en pesqueros de bandera española y uno de bandera senegalesa, pero con nacionales a bordo. De no haber sido por los rescates realizados por Salvamento Marítimo y los esfuerzos de la Dirección General de la Marina Mercante posiblemente se estaría hablando de más fallecidos…. ¿Cuántos pescadores habrán fallecido en el mundo durante este periodo?
