“…Because the use of an organic liquid electrolyte poses an environmental contamination risk due to leakage, coupled with a flammability issue [76], the development of solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) are promising alternatives to enhance the safety performance of batteries [77]. Composite electrolytes based on POE (poly(oxyethylene)) and similar matrices have been developed that can have gel-like (low molecular weight) or solid (high polymer molecular weight) properties for Li-ion cell applications.…”

“…Ionic liquid electrolytes (ILEs) as a new type of quasi‐solid electrolytes (QSEs) show great potential applications in lithium batteries, solar cells, fuel cells, supercapacitors, and biosensors due to their wide electrochemical window, high ionic conductivity and low volatility . Usually, the ILE can be mainly divided into two categories, one of which is conventional polymer/ionic liquid (IL) composite electrolyte, the other is poly(ionic liquid) (PIL)/IL composite electrolyte . PILs are the most ideal matrix in the IL‐based electrolyte as they are well miscible with ILs having the similar structure units, which can inhibit the phase separation and leakage .…”
