Ruptured Achilles Tendon, a Common Injury in Athletes

Abstract: Introduction: The Achilles tendon also named calcaneal tendon, can be subjected to tensile loads up to 10 times the body weight. It is located on the posterior aspect of the lower leg and is the thickest tendon. This tendon accounts for 20% of all large tendon injuries.
