Status of the N* program at Jefferson Lab

“…Recent work within a constituent quark model using a hypercentral potential [33] has made progress in reproducing the transition amplitude A 1/2 to the N * 1/2 − (1535). The hard formfactor is also in contrast to models that interpret this state as a |KΣ > hadronic molecule [28]. Although no calculations exist from such models, the extreme "hardness" of the formfactor and the large cross section appear counter intuitive to an interpretation of this state as a bound hadronic system.…”
