RT-UML for modeling Real-Time Web Services

Abstract: In this paper we show how we can use the UML Profile for modeling Real Time Systems, which allows us to describe Web Services Choreographies with time constraints. More specifically, we see how by using the diagrams of this profile, we can capture the main elements of a Real-time Web Services Choreography Description Language specification (WS-CDL), which we can then translate into Web Services Choreographies.

“…The most frequently used specification type is the parsed specification type, reported in 21 studies. A parsed specification includes, among others, the study by Cambronero et al [28], which introduces the development method-based UML profile for real-time systems modelling (RT-UML). One of the features of this method is the transformation of RT-UML models into WS-CDL language that includes details about time constraints, which is then translated into BPEL.…”

“…Knowledge: Three studies formed the theoretical base for studying RT requirements in CML. How a specification written in RT-UML can be translated into Choreography Description Language containing RT information is presented in (Cambronero et al, 2006). RT information expressing the time during which one participant use another's resources is explicitly supported in Scribble, which is a CML proposed in (Hu et al, 2013).…”

“…These attributes can capture information about the location of participants in the choreography scenario and enabled choreographed interactions between their services. Similar approach is adopted by Cambronero, Diaz, Pardo, Valero and Pelayo (2006), where the WS-CDL (Kavantzas et al, 2005) is extended with attributes which allowed it to capture the system's real-time constraints.…”
