Abstract: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes a substantial proportion of acute lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) among infants. In low- and middle-income countries, RSV may be responsible for approximately 40% of all hospital admissions of infants less than one year. A safe and immunogenic RSV vaccine, given to pregnant persons, is imminent.
