Rs4846049 Polymorphism at the 3′-UTR of MTHFR Gene: Association with Susceptibility to Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Abstract: Background Accumulating evidence has suggested the polymorphisms of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) were associated with susceptibility to childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). However, the known conclusions of currently known polymorphic loci (677 C > T and 1298 A > C) remain controversial. This study was to investigate new genetic biomarkers for ALL by analyzing the MTHFR polymorphisms at the 3′-untranslated region, which is a location bound by miRNAs. Methods Polymorphisms of rs4846049 (… Show more

“…To the best of our knowledge, there have been relatively few reports focused on genotypes for childhood ALL susceptibility, with most of them examining mRNA and/or protein expression levels (48)(49)(50)(51). In the current study, genotype-phenotype correlations were investigated by examining not only mRNA transcript levels but also by assessing NHEJ repair capacity endpoints.…”
